The Best Looks of the Golden Globes

As with every awards shows, there are the outfit hits that inspire trends in everything from shoes to gowns, makeup to nails. And then there are the total fashion flops, that remind us why sometimes taking a huge risk doesn’t pay off. Keep reading to see our favorite looks at the Golden Globes, and the ones that made us cringe as we thought of their fate on Fashion Police this Monday morning.

Best dressed

Anne Hathaway stunned at the Golden Globes with a perfectly fitting beaded strapless gown from Chanel. With minimal accessories, her trademark natural beauty was on full display, and we give the entire look an A+.

Best minimalist look

Usually when we see black dresses on the red carpet, we reference them in disappointment wishing the star had chosen to wear a more unique color. Instead, we are loving Kristen Wiig’s choice of this sexy Michael Kors black dress for her awards show look. Minimal accessories let the cutout of this dress take center stage — it’s not fair that she is so funny and gorgeous. I unofficially nominate her for funniest award presenter with Will Ferrell.

Fashion risk that paid off

It’s not often that we see an ankle-grazing dress that we love, but Kerry Washington proved that notion wrong with this Miu Miu and Prada ensemble. She was the definition of a fashion risk that paid off!

Fashion risk that didn’t pay off

Jessica Chastain had some pieces of a fabulous look, but when mixed together they unfortunately flopped. The light seafoam green color of her Calvin Klein gown is very on trend for spring, and we recommend you wear it on everything from pants to nails. However, the billowing chest regretfully didn’t flatter Jessica’s amazing figure. From the front, the low cut neckline was an appealing risk, but from the side the excess material didn’t do her any favors and her harsh hair didn’t soften the look.

Best nail art

Yes, pale nails are totally on trend for spring and they’re pretty much all we’ve seen at the awards shows thus far. But, nail art still has its place, especially on the hands of the nail art queen Zooey Deschanel. Not only was she stunning in her Oscar de la Renta red gown, but these nails were to-die-for. If only they could have been her good luck charm for her Best Actress nomination for New Girl.
